SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MINING ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Students, researchers, contractors, visiting faculty and staff are all required to complete some level of safety training before being given access to our laboratory facilities. Students from outside the department wanting to take any of our mineral processing courses will be wait-listed until you have met the requirements. Students/ Researchers from other departments wanting to use our processing labs are also required to complete these requirements.
All students, faculty, postdocs visitors and contractors are required to:
- Self-enroll in the Connect Course: MINE SAFETY ONLINE WORKSHOP.
- Complete the Introduction to Lab Safety Course offered by Risk Management.
- Upload your Certificate for the Introduction to Lab Safety to the MINE SAFETY ONLINE WORKSHOP.

- Click Enroll.
- For Access Code enter: ReduceRisk
Once you are enrolled in the MINE SAFETY ONLINE WORKSHOP there are different requirements depending on your status at UBC. In the MINE SAFETY ONLINE WORKSHOP, please select the appropriate category to find out what is necessary.
